How to make an airplane fly

Bubby's rendition of how to fly an airplane (...lots of our ornaments are planes so you can imagine the fun we had watching this!)

1. You always must make the "pshew" sound and fly the airplane updside down.

2. Then even out your plane at the bottom of the turn.

3. Finally he should take a corner sideways (just a little "pshew" sound this time).

Ahh the joys of attempting to take Christmas photos again this year...they each seem to be saying hmmm...how can I get out of this?!?!

You kidding me you're taking more pictures mom..how's this?

And last, but not least the ....mom if you take yet another picture I'm going to scream!

Halloween Fun

Our first Halloween in our new house was a great one! Lilly was Princess Aurora, and George was a St. Bernard

Ready to get some candy! Holding the gourds they picked out earlier this month, and the "toys of the day". Lilly has her buffalo and George has...the hairbrush...the pink one of course!

And yes, the brush even had to go trick-or-treating with us. Not quite sure what the fascination was that day with the hairbrush, but for some reason he would NOT put it down!

They made it about an hour, which was around our block, and then we were pretty cold.

George wasn't too big of a fan of the pumpkin carving although he LOVED dropping the scooper in the pumpkin and asking us where it went.

This was the first year that Lilly really got into helping to take the guts out.

Vacation

We had a GREAT time on vacation this weekend! We spent the first two days at Avalanche Bay in Boyne Mountain and then two days in Frankenmuth. Sorry for the order of the photos, I still can't figure this thing out!
Yesterday Lilly and daddy got to learn the story of pretzels and make some of their own. They tasted GREAT!

At first Lilly didn't like the waterpark, but later on that night she warmed up and even rode on the water slides with daddy!

This is as close as Bubs would come to the water. Most likely due to the loud horn and large spray of water right when we got to the waterpark...mom's bright idea to take him down the water slide probably didn't help matters either.
The hit of the Frankenmuth hotel was the play area. All weekend we heard "I see you"!

On our way home we stopped at Uncle John's Cider Mill to get our pumpkins, donuts and cider for the year. 72 degrees didn't feel like pumpkin weather though!

Riding with Kermit..the hit of the arcade. Even better when there aren't any coins in and it is sitting still. The fear in his eyes is that it might start moving again! However, when it is off he didn't want to leave!

First Attempt

Here is our first attempt at a FULL haircut for Bubs. There has only been one other time when we have shaved some off of the back. It was tough for mommy and she still says that he looks like an old man, but I thought it was time when daycare kept putting the top into a mowhawk. Surprisingly he sat completely still although it took me quite some time because his hair is so incredibly fine!



Lilly showing off her big sister moves! I'm not quite sure how much she got to eat, but she's not much for sweets...her brother on the other hand wouldn't let anyone else get a lick in. Believe it or not they each only had just a few chocolate spots on their clothes!

Bubby found a new fun outdoor game this weekend...riding the toy truck down the driveway. Of course not riding it the way he should be but rather having someone push you while sitting in the dump part! Ahhh boys!

Bubby also got moved from his high chair to a booster at the table. He was really getting frustrated that he couldn't color or play play-doh right with his sister so I set it up for him to play at the table. Naturally he then wanted to eat at the table and actually made much less of a mess!

Usually this smile means that he is trying to get away with something. I think that maybe he thought he wasn't supposed to be at the table or something. Either way we are all happier because mom isn't washing the floor 6 times a day!

4th of July

Ok..so I had to start with the exciting update...this year we decided to plant our first ever family garden and it has turned out GREAT! Here is a photo taken last night. So far we have gotten about 3 ziploc bags full of green beans, and 3 huge zucchini with many more to come! All in all we planted watermelons, potatos, green beans, zucchini, pickle cucumbers, strawberries, green peppers, tomatos, and blueberries!

For the 4th of July we went to the Battle Creek airshow. Lilly was the most sensitive this year that she has ever been to the noise. Apparently a sub bun makes great earplugs though!

They also learned that the extra step on the tricycle makes for a great seat for brother...I'm really enjoying them starting to "play" together.

Bubs thought that the drink cooler spout was a faucet for washing your hands so he spent a good 20 minutes "washing" his hands by putting them under the spout and then rubbing them together.

Looking at airplanes with dad wearing the Blue Angels shirt that daddy did as a kid...notice the food in his hand...Bubs' favorite part of the airshow..you can munch on food all day and not get in trouble!

Welcome Summer

For Memorial Day we ended up in Columbus at COSI ( a science museum) and the Columbus Zoo! We had a FANTASTIC time except that both kids were getting car sick so we had to clean out both car seats in the bathtub at the hotel!

Lilly had fun at COSI, they had lots of science for the kids to experience. Here she and daddy are changing their voices (I think she was more excited just to have the headphones on).

At the zoo Lilly got to feed the Lorikeets. Unfortunately for the two birds that chose her she made them share and would feed one for a minute or so and then would go to the other one. She made sure that she told them to share!

Bubs had a blast at the kidspace at COSI. He spent over an hour there and we still had to drag him throwing a fit out of there!

Still having a blast at the zoo on hour 7...it is a GREAT zoo and took us well over 8 hours to go through everything!!

Working in our first ever garden. Bubby loved the excuse to play in the dirt.

Lilly is loving the warm weather and is so ready to get her pool out. The grass was seeded last week so hopefully we will have a lawn soon that they can play in the pool on!

Busy Bees

We have all been so busy the past few weeks. Now that the weather has warmed up we are working on the outside of the house. The whole back yard needs to be seeded with grass and we are starting our first ever garden this year and got the fence up today. The kids are busy growing and learning. Bubby is learning to use a spoon, has learned to say bye-bye, and is VERY stubborn!!! Lilly is learning her letters and is loving that her brother will rough house with her now.

Bubs also does not stop for anything in his way. Grandma and Grandpa have nicknamed him dozer because he will just plow over/through whatever is there to get to what he wants. He was SUPER determined here to get the spoon out of the dishwasher. Of course mom had to grab the camera and through laughs had to tell him that was naughty...in which case he slapped is own hand (I guess the good thing is he understands the word naughty right!)

He is doing so well with a spoon. He wants to be just like his big sister and gets upset if he can't keep up with her.

Really mom..haven't you taken enough pictures of me eating..oh wait...I EAT ALL THE TIME!

Lilly LOVES to help cook and even made brownies mostly by herself this weekend..which means she got first dibs on the spoon!

Really mom...is the dinner table the only time you remember to get the camera out?~?~?

Motivation!

George has learned that it is REALLY fun to stand on things that he is not supposed to and smile!

Like Lilly's Dora Chair...in order to better reach the toybox of course.

He has also found a new passion...brushing his teeth. Unfortunately for us it has become more of an obsession and he will break into a full out meltdown if you walk by the bathroom without getting his toothbrush. This of course has made bathtime REALLY fun because all he wants to do is get out to brush his teeth. We are trying to limit his toothbrush "use" to only the bathroom so that it doesn't become more of a toy but this is a difficult one!

AS you can see his motivation to reach the toothbrush has reached dangerous heights. He will stand on the stool on his tippy toes to try to reach the cup that his toothbrush is in.
